AURORA

Oil on Canvas, 2026
20 × 40 in (50.8 × 101.6 cm)

Aurora brings the viewer close to a face partly sheltered by knitted fabric. A lowered eyelid and a glimpse of warm skin emerge among rich textures, suggesting a private moment of inward attention.

Blues, violets, and muted greens surround the face, while lighter passages draw out the contours of the cheek and the raised weave of the fabric. The close composition brings skin and textile into an intimate relationship, making texture part of the painting’s emotional character.

The title evokes the first light of dawn. Here, that sense of emergence remains delicate: a face coming into view, a feeling beginning to take shape, with much still held beneath the surface.
